Lingfield racing tips

Evening Racing Preview – Lingfield & Kempton

A familiar all-weather split between Lingfield and Kempton this evening, where the theme is much the same as always — get the fractions right, carry a workable weight, and avoid needing a miracle in running. Lingfield rewards those who hold position; Kempton rewards those who hold their nerve. The rest tend to be left explaining what might have been.

13:52 Lingfield – Kondratiev Wave

Kondratiev Wave looks a solid starting point, carrying around 9st 6lb, which is very similar to his latest run, so there’s no sudden shift in expectations.

From the Robert Cowell yard, with Rossa Ryan likely to ride, he should be ridden to sit just off the pace. Ryan around Lingfield tends to get the timing right more often than not, which is half the battle here.

If he gets a gap when it matters — always the key phrase — he could go very close.

14:22 Lingfield – Tilsworth Max

Tilsworth Max could be one to outrun his odds, carrying around 9st 2lb, which leaves him a couple of pounds lighter than some of the principals.

From the Mick Appleby yard, with Alistair Rawlinson likely aboard, he should be delivered late. If the race begins to unravel in front of him, he could be the one picking up the pieces.

He won’t look like the winner early — which at Lingfield is often exactly how you want it.

14:52 Lingfield – Tortured Soul

Tortured Soul looks a major player, carrying around 9st 7lb, a small rise from recent runs but nothing too demanding.

From the Tony Carroll yard, with Billy Loughnane likely riding, he should get a smooth trip. If he’s in the right place turning in, he may simply outstay these.

The name suggests resilience — which is useful, because Lingfield tends to test it.

15:22 Lingfield – Welcome Retreat

Welcome Retreat lines up carrying around 9st 5lb, broadly unchanged from recent efforts.

With a yard that tends to place these types sensibly and a jockey who won’t panic, he should get a steady run round. If he sees daylight at the right time, he could be involved.

The only issue is that “right time” here tends to last about half a second.

16:52 Lingfield – Profit Street

Profit Street looks one of the more straightforward runners on the card. He carries around 9st 8lb, slightly higher than last time but not enough to cause concern.

From the George Boughey yard, with Luke Morris booked, he should be ridden positively and kept out of trouble. Morris around Lingfield is rarely complicated — get handy, stay balanced, and go when it matters.

If he turns in in the first two or three, he may prove very hard to get past.

17:00 Kempton – Rye

Rye looks interesting on the switch to Kempton, carrying around 9st 4lb, very similar to recent runs.

From the Charlie Johnston yard, with Joe Fanning likely riding, he should be ridden forward but not aggressively. If he settles into a rhythm, he could be one of those still going when others have used up their energy too early.

Kempton tends to reward patience disguised as confidence.

17:30 Kempton – Timely Affair

Timely Affair looks a strong contender, carrying around 9st 7lb, very similar to his latest run.

From the Andrew Balding yard, with Oisin Murphy likely booked, he should get a well-timed ride. Murphy’s ability to delay the challenge just long enough is often the difference here.

If he travels well into the straight, he may not need to improve much.

18:00 Kempton – Dubai Harbour

Dubai Harbour could be one to keep on side, carrying around 9st 3lb, which gives him a slight edge over a few of these.

From the Roger Varian yard, with Jack Mitchell likely riding, he should be delivered late. If the pace holds up, he could be the one finishing strongest.

The key is not getting there too soon — which sounds obvious, but is regularly ignored.

19:00 Kempton – Hamaleel

Hamaleel looks the value angle, carrying around 9st 2lb, a couple of pounds lighter than some of the principals.

From the Owen Burrows yard, with Jim Crowley likely to ride, he should be ridden patiently. If the race develops late, he could be the one staying on best.

The sort who doesn’t look dangerous… until suddenly he very much is.

20:30 Kempton – Terries Royale

Terries Royale could close the evening strongly, carrying around 9st 5lb, very similar to his recent runs.

From the Stuart Williams yard, with Marco Ghiani likely to ride, he should be kept in a good rhythm. If he’s still travelling turning in, he could be the one with the most left.

Kempton often rewards those who wait — even if it doesn’t feel like the right decision at the time.

Best Bet of the Day

16:52 Lingfield – Profit Street

Carries a workable weight, tactically straightforward, and now has Luke Morris booked — which around Lingfield usually means no nonsense and no excuses.

In a card full of variables, he looks the one most likely to simply do what’s expected.
